Property MaxSpanCoveredCells
MaxSpanCoveredCells
Gets or sets the maximum number of table cells an imported HTML document may need only
because a rowspan covers them, counted across the whole document, or null for
unlimited.
On by default (DefaultMaxSpanCoveredCells). HTML states a
vertical span once, on the cell that opens it, but the document model needs a cell in
every row the span covers, so the reader builds one for a slot the source spent no bytes
on. Each rowspan is clamped to 1000, which bounds one span and not their
product: rows that each open a span are covered by every span above them, and a
megabyte of such rows asks for some fourteen gigabytes of model.
This bounds memory, not time — a document at the default converts in about half
a second — so raising it, or setting it null, trades that memory for documents with
larger merged regions. Until Phase 72 the ceiling was fixed and internal; the
LimitName it reports is unchanged.
A reader handed no limits at all (a DocumentReadOptions whose
Limits is null) applies the default.
