Class ReportFunctionCatalog

Namespace
DocWright.Reporting.Expressions
Assembly
DocWright.Reporting.dll

Every function a report expression can call by name — the Visual Basic runtime subset, the imported Math and Convert members, the static .NET members, the aggregate, scope and lookup functions, and the call-like operators — with what an expression editor shows for each: a category, a signature, a sentence and an example, and for a function DocWright refuses, the code and the reason.

Remarks

Argument counts, return types and refusals are the interpreter's own: the catalogue reads them from the tables the interpreter binds and evaluates with, so the two cannot disagree. Only the text is written by hand, and a test holds it to them — every function the interpreter knows is here, every signature takes the arguments the interpreter accepts, and every example of an implemented function evaluates, to the value Microsoft's engine gives it.

A name the catalogue does not know is one the expression language does not have: the reference's own compiler would say it is not declared (DXP9101). A refused function is known and says why (DXP9102).

Properties

All

Gets every function, by category and then by name.

Methods

Find(string?)

Finds a function by any name an expression may call it by: its own, an alias (Abs for Math.Abs), or a qualified spelling (Strings.Len, Microsoft.VisualBasic.Left, Integer.Parse). Case does not matter, as it does not in Visual Basic.

StartingWith(string?)

The functions whose name or an alias starts with what has been typed, for completion.
