A report's data sources and datasets as Report Builder's "Report Data" pane edits them: add, rename, remove, the query, query parameters, calculated fields and filters, every edit one undo entry. A data source carries only a name and a provider kind: the connection is the host's (its DataSourceResolver), so nothing secret is ever written into the report.

AddCalculatedField(string, string, string)

Adds a calculated field (a Value expression instead of a DataField), as one entry.

AddDataSet(string, string, string)

Adds a dataset reading a data source, as one entry.

AddDataSource(string, string)

Adds a data source, as one entry. Its connect string stays empty: the host resolves the name.

AddQueryField(string, string, string, string?)

Adds a field the query returns, as one entry.

AddSharedDataSource(string, string)

Adds a data source that references a shared data source the host offers, as one entry: the report holds the reference and nothing about the connection, as a Reporting Services report referencing a shared data source does.

DataSetsUsing(string)

The datasets whose query reads a data source.

Filters(string)

A dataset's filters.

FindDataSet(string)

Finds a dataset by name.

FindDataSource(string)

Finds a data source by name.

FindField(string, string)

Finds a field of a dataset.

IsValidName(string?)

Whether a name is a valid RDL name: a letter or underscore, then letters, digits and underscores.

KindOf(RdlElement)

The provider kind a data source states (ConnectionProperties/DataProvider), or null.

QueryParameters(string)

A dataset's query parameters: each name (@Region) and its value expression.

RemoveDataSet(string)

Removes a dataset, as one entry; refused while a report item or parameter reads it.

RemoveDataSource(string)

Removes a data source, as one entry; refused while a dataset reads it.

RemoveField(string, string)

Removes a field, as one entry.

RenameDataSet(string, string)

Renames a dataset, as one entry: every DataSetName that names it (data regions, parameter values) and every scope argument "OldName" in an expression (Sum(x, "Old"), CountRows("Old"), Lookup(a, b, c, "Old")) follow. A string that is not a whole argument, such as ="Old", is text and stays.

RenameDataSource(string, string)

Renames a data source and every dataset query that names it, as one entry.

SetDataSourceKind(string, string)

Changes a data source's provider kind, as one entry.

SetFieldSource(string, string, string)

Changes a field's source, as one entry: its DataField for a query field, its Value expression for a calculated one.

SetFilters(string, IReadOnlyList<TablixFilter>)

Replaces a dataset's filters, as one entry; an empty list removes them.

SetQuery(string, string, string, int?)

Sets a dataset's data source, query text and timeout, as one entry.

SetQueryParameters(string, IReadOnlyList<KeyValuePair<string, string>>)

Replaces a dataset's query parameters, as one entry; an empty list removes them.

SetSharedReference(string, string?, string?)

Points a data source at a shared data source, or makes it embedded again with a provider kind, as one entry. The two forms replace each other: a data source holds a reference or connection properties, never both.

SharedReferenceOf(RdlElement)

The shared data source a data source references (DataSourceReference), or null when it is embedded.

UsersOf(string)

The names of the report items and parameters that read a dataset (by DataSetName).
