Class ReportItemDescriptor

Namespace
ReportWright.Design
Assembly
ReportWright.Design.dll

What the designer knows about one kind of report item (A.7.2): where it sits in the palette, its icon and label, its default size, the element it emits, the property sections the grid shows, and the schematic it draws on the surface. Items are registered, never hard-coded; adding one is adding a descriptor.

Constructors

ReportItemDescriptor(string, string, PaletteGroup, string, string, int, int)

Initializes the descriptor.

Properties

DefaultHeight

Gets the default height in twips.

DefaultWidth

Gets the default width in twips.

Group

Gets the palette group.

IconKey

Gets the icon key.

Id

Gets the palette key.

IsPlaceable

Gets whether the palette can place this item in the current designer phase; a descriptor that only draws existing items says false and names the phase in PlaceableNote.

Kind

Gets the element kind.

Label

Gets the label.

MinimumVersion

Gets the oldest schema version the element exists in; the palette greys the entry out in an older file (decisions, item 2).

PlaceableNote

Gets why the item cannot be placed, for the palette's tooltip; null when it can.

PropertySections

Gets the property sections the grid shows for this kind, from the property catalogue.

Methods

Child(DesignerDocument, RdlElement, string)

Adds a child element.

CreateElement(DesignerDocument, string)

Creates the element a placement inserts, without position or size (the document sets those).

Display(string?, out bool)

The display text of a value: an expression becomes a bracketed placeholder (A.7.4), a literal is itself.

Draw(RdlElement, int, int)

Draws the schematic (A.7.3): real geometry where it is cheap, bracketed expression text where a value would be.

Matches(RdlElement)

Whether an element is one of this kind; the default compares the element name, a chart descriptor also reads the chart type.

Named(DesignerDocument, string, string)

A new element of this document's namespace with a name attribute.
